We had planned to take the elevator to the top of Montparnasse Tower. (All 56 Floors). When we arrived they wanted $20 each to ride a silly elevator. Now, Paula and Duane have ridden elevators for nothing before and decided to go have some more wine instead. It was a good decision. We saved $40 and if we want to get that high (680 feet) we'll stick with the wine. We Love the French, but at times they do get goofy! Before that we spent several hours in their cemetery. Aptly enough, called Montparnasse Cemetery. There will be pictures. Paula loves these places and we have the photos to prove it. Duane made friends with an Irish caretaker whose full time job it is to clean grave stones & markers, weed and water plants and keep the families (who are too lazy to do it themselves) happy. Duane met him at Samuel Beckets marker and learned more about Sam than I ever wanted to know, but it was fun. His name was Rood and he has a fascinating job. Your clients are dead, your boss is living in another country and you get to spend all day outdoors sweeping grave stones and watering plants. Nice gig!
Paula had a pizza for lunch (Which she loved) and Duane ordered the Insalada Italiano. Duane didn't get that, but he did get a salad of some sort and didn't want to make a scene in Montparnasse. Instead of Parma Ham he got Mystery meat and it was wonderful. Duane finds it best to just eat whatever they bring him even if he has no idea what it is. This time it was Atlantic Tuna. Life is full of special surprises. . . And a salad is a salad.
