Today we made a return trip to Garnier's Opera. Why? You should rightfully ask? Weren't you just there yesterday? Yes, we were, but the part we kept hidden from you was that Paula's camera battery failed her at the worst possible time (when she was NOT finished taking pictures), so we came back today. The Paris Metro makes this sort of galavanting about simple as pie. Here's one of the pictures Paula didn't get to take yesterday, but did today:
I know, it is just a column and a capital, but it is something special to Paula. She took many more, but this is all you get today as this was the day to head to Eiffel's Tower and the Trocadero. Here's one!
In this one Duane is falling off a curb as he pressed the shutter button. No worries, he's fine. It is all about the PHOTO! Next we got REAL CLOSE:
And then Duane got all arty on one and this is the result. Really not all that arty, but it is the effort that counts.
As you can see, it was a crappy day for photos. Gray, grayer and grayest was the weather forecast and it was right on. Gray skies can be a blessing, but when taking photos, not all the time as gray seems to turn out grey. The good news is. . . The temps were nice (although Paula was hot) and there was NO rain. It was a grand day! We crossed the Seine and arrived at the Trocadero. Here is where the day took a turn for the better. . . A $5.00 shared ham and cheese was lunch. This was quite the find as yesterday's lunch topped $50.00. Days like this make Duane happy.
Following lunch we burrowed deeper into the Trocadero and found (much to our surprise) the Cite de L'Architecture & Du Patrimoine. This less than well advertised museum has some of the most amazing historical pieces of Architecture we've ever found in a museum. We've seen a lot in real life, but this a collection some very nice pieces de Architecture all in one place. Marvelous! This, of course, is just a tiny piece, but believe me . . . It was everywhere. Here's another sample:
Yep! I was scared too. This guy jumped out at me and caused a momentary heart palpitation. I'm all right now. This next guy was minus a few bady parts and all of his skin, but he was still determined to take a "Selfie!"
It seems that taking "Selfies" is a universal thing that drives one long after you've lost all your parts and even your junk. It should be noted, however, that even though this dude had no parts left, he's still wearing a fig leaf. It seems like overkill to me, but I guess one can't be too careful about showing one's parts!
Nice glasses! Scary stone face!
