Oh! What a day we had!

Today was Giverny Day and another ride on the fabulous SNCF Trains. Duane will let you do the research on Monet and Giverny as that kind of detail just confounds Duane. Needless to say, this is a wonderous place. Today the flowers were extraordinary and Paula nearly blew out a memory stick! It is just a farm, so to speak, but what Monet did here is out of this world. Duane grew up on a farm. . . It was nothing like this. This one has wall to wall flowers intertwined with a creek or two and, of course, the water lily pond.
Paula sorta lost her mind here. We can't possibly post even a fraction of the photos. I'll throw some down and let you decide. It was a glorious day. Even with the tour groups we had a wonderful time.
This was the shot from Claude's front step in the morning. Flowers Everywhere!
And then there were the water lilies!
Paula has some exceptional skills as a amateur photographer. She has a natural eye that is rare.
This is Monet's home. It is as if he just walked out to do some gardening. Inside is spectacular with all of his favorite colors . . . Buttercup Yellow, blue bonnet blue, water lily green. . . It rather takes your breathe away. If you are not a Monet fan you should be. Except for all the work involved in keeping this 5 acres all abloom Duane could live here forever. Paula would too. We eves dropped on a guided tour or two and learned that Monet hired several gardeners to keep this place up. Duane would have hired at least 5, one for each acre. Yes, every square inch of ground has flowers on it. And this guy.
I gotta stop now, but before I go you have to see dinner. Thai food that makes you cry! It is that good!

  2. Tasha - we bought a book for the girls in the gift shop at Giverny. You had better start practicing your French reading skills so you can read it to the girls. It may also be fun for you to take the book to your school.
