One would never know that the kindle has invaded and almost wiped out all other book stores!
This place is crammed full of people, books and a little bit of other things too. You should do your research to learn more. . .they allowed no pictures inside, so I'll have to tell you all about it. Books go from floor to ceiling, the halls are narrow, the smells are delicious (smells like books) and the people are diverse. The ground floor sells new books from every era. Climb the spiral staircase and you find used books from everywhere and every age. It smells even better up here (That assumes you love the smell of old books!). In the little cubicles they have old typewriters (you may have to google that too) set up as if Hemingway just stepped out for a Scotch and a smoke. In the corner there is still a small cot that has been the overnight home for the likes of Samuel Beckett and James Joyce. There are still literary people hanging out in the corners talking literature and stuff. Duane has no idea what they're talking about, but he loves the idea of people just hangin' and talkin' bout stuff? The couple today, lounging on the cot, were a handsome couple on one level (Under the sweat stains), and looked the part (A lot of black clothes that had not been laundered recently) and to complete the picture. . . They smelled bad. Neither one had shaved lately! Gotta love it when all the stories of this lovable institution come alive just on the day when you walk in. Sights and Sounds and Smells, OH BOY!
Duane bought a book, Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" to keep him amused the next few days. Last night he finished reading "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and was in the mood for something lighter.
